My work schedule gives me lots of 3 and 4 day weekends and I'd like to travel more. I've heard that airlines will offer cheap, last minute tickets to fill planes, rather than fly them with empty seats and I thought it would be cool to just hop a plane to anywhere and explore. Is there an easy way to find out about cheap, last minute fares other than the normal travel websites (hotwire, expedia, travelocity, etc.)?

There is a website called www.airfarewatchdog.com. You can put in your departure city and it will give you fares to many different cities, including the fares for the following weekend. It's the best site I have found if you don't have a destination in mind.
