Basically looking for any advice since I have never travelled internationally before. I am looking to travel from Australia to Canada at the end of November to early December. I need help with finding the best price on flights. Websites etc. I am looking for a website where I can compare many flights leaving from different cities on the east coast. I am also wondering if it is better to wait until last minute before bookings since there may be last minute discounts. Thanks for any help.

I know it can be confusing when there are a million different comparison sites, but after years of flying, I've found that http://www.Orbitz.com seems to consistently offer the lowest rates compared to the other comparison sites. For example, in March, I flew from Melbourne, Australia, to Orlando, Florida, USA, for about $350 with United Airlines! None of the other comparison sites offered me that same deal.

That said, you should check at least half a dozen comparison sites as well as a few of the airline's sites (sometimes you can find deals directly and they don't show up in comparison sites).

So here's what I recommend to you to find the best deal:
1. Go to http://www.bookingbuddy.com, which will save you from retyping information into all of your searches, and from there try Orbitz, Expedia and maybe Priceline and a few other comparison sites listed there. To be honest with you, after years of using Booking Buddy, Orbitz and Expedia are the only ones I've found helpful.

2. Visit the direct Web sites for some of the airlines. Remember that the comparison sites don't always offer the same deals, and discount airlines usually aren't listed on the comparison sites at all. You didn't mention what cities you were flying from or into, which would have helped, but start with:

http://www.qantas.com.au (a few days ago I noticed that they have great deals going to the US right now, so you may be able to get a connection to Canada for a decent rate)

http://www.virginblue.com.au (I used to fly them all the time when I was in Australia, and they often offer cheap flights to LA, so you could possibly get a connection with another airline from there. I've never found them listed on a comparison site.)

http://www.aircanada.com/

You may want to check out some of the direct Web sites for some of the other major US airlines like American Airlines, United, Delta, as I believe they all fly from Australia to Canada (usually via US). I hope this helps. I know it's not an easy answer. If you want the best deal you have to take time to do research and use the comparison sites, but don't depend on them. It's definitely worth taking the extra time to save potentially hundreds of dollars. Have a great trip to Canada! icon smile Travel from Australia to Canada.
