Have been told it is possible to travel backpacking style to America and opthr areas on plane like the Ryan Air scheme which serves Europe. Is this true and who are they? Its like a website thta has fares last minute offers for extremely cheap rates like 5 doolars a time. I belive ther is such a site but any ideas where please ? I was told booking.com was like this but the prices are still too high for me. Thansk J
Try Aer Lingus. It's really similar to Ryanair.

Actually, Ryanair was started as a copycat to the USA’s Southwest but then went beyond Southwest with it’s segment of seats that were just a couple of pounds (but one pays extra for every little thing). There was an airline startup a couple of years ago, headquartered in Ohio (I forget its name), that tried to emulate Ryanair but it quickly went out of business. Sorry.
