OK, now what if I have a friend that is coming to visit at the last minute and I want to reschedule the trip to see her, COIULD I CHANGE THE DATE OF TRAVEL?. or what if my flight is cancelled and I cant get to my trip till when the trip is in vein, could I change the date of Travel?

You/ bought a SPECIAL FARE DIS ticket and by purchasing/accepting it, you accept all the restrictions included – the first being "YOU CANNOT CHANGE THIS TICKET"
The only reason they MAY waive it is for a death in the family or military orders. Just because your friend decides to show up at the last minute, changing all your plans that you have been bugging us all about the last few weeks will NOT constitute a reason for them to waive it.
And before you beyotch and moan about the airlines raping you out of money, it is YOUR fault that you have decided to change your travel dates after knowing the conditions of the ticket. If you claim you didn’t know or didn’t read it, than its still your fault as it is YOUR responsibility to understand the conditions you are buying the ticket under.
