I have been reading a lot of posts here where they say to limit the amount of gifts you want to give to someone, so they don´t think it is too much. Not more than $20 if you have been dating for less than 3 months.

The thing is I met this man online a few months ago. And at first we were talking a lot, and i really thought he was an amazing, after sometime i got involved with someone else and then moved to a different country .. so we distanced a little, then for some time i started missing him and had a crush on him.
Since the last two months it is different we just chat on msn, i think he plays a little bit, he flirts sometimes. Anyways the point is i feel appreciation for him so I sent him gifts for Valentine´s.
.
I am a giver, friends make fun of me because all the time i can have $50 or $100 on me and if i see a beggar or elders or women with small children in need inthe streets ( i live in latin america) i give it all to them, just because i know they Need it waaay more than me, what am i going to eventually do the money other wise, go to Starbucks? have a pedicure? have drinks at a bar? It comes natural to me.
Or when i travel i always bring gifts for my family and friends.
Per example today i sent my two sons to school with a big box of chocolate to share with classmates, and special chocolate for their teachers just to show appreciation because these ladies spend 6 hours a day with them.

I get inspired by the idea of making someone i care for happy.

So while shopping online for friends i got him

Dvd Baraka (awesome movie)
amazing National Geographic book showing their best photos about Love
"The Photographs" National Geographic book with their iconic photos
music cd Cafe del Mar IV
Cologne
Scented Candle

On godiva i got him a heart shaped chocolate box for like $13

in total it was about $200.

I wanted to surprise him, those are quality items that i personally love and i think he will enjoy them, and i do so with no attachment or expectations whatsoever.

I don´t understand why people are calculating what is too much, or feel they are on the line if they give... or why someone would freak out if a person is generous to him.

But seriously i did it with lightness, but now this make me wonder how he will take it...why do things have to be so complicated?
I hope he wont feel embarassed or freak,, or think i am a weirdo!

What do you guys think... did i send too many gifts? which for me is not irrelevant cause it came from a good place

and more importantly what does Too much mean

Well there's not much you can do now. The money is already spent. But next time you don't need to spend so much money on someone in order to show your appreciation. A card is enough. It's the thought that counts. And god bless you for be being so considerate to those less fortunate.
