Hi, im going to Magaluf in mid July, peak season i know. I'm wondering would it be better to book asap or wait until the last few weeks and book a last minute deal then? Any ideas on who and how i should book the holiday aswell, travel agent, teletext or the internet. Any help appreciated, but basically the main question is my concern.

I was looking for different fare myself for a peak season. But when I got to the flight centre they quote was 1/3 of what I found over Internet so far (an I spend more time and effort). Don't try your luck for a last minute deal

I would say the demand of something directly relates to the price and how the price will be influenced the following year. The demand for holidays in Cyprus are obviously going to be greater in the summer months when people are on holiday from school/work compared to other times of the year, at the same time the weather and attractions abroad are at their most favourable. Last minute bargains are usually not. They're just advertised as that to encourage sales of products they either want to get rid of quickly or know aren't selling well. E.g. If a hotel has to fill 200 rooms and they know they'll make a profit on 175 of them by selling at £100 per person, then they can offer the remaining 25 rooms at discount to guarantee they'll have a full hotel, from which they'll subsequently generate additional profit from food/drink/entertainment etc.

My son turns 13 in June. I want to surprise him with a sun hol as we have never been. This would include his two younger brothers...is it worth holding off for last minute deals i.e. packed ready to go and book? any advice appreciated.

With 3 Kids under 13 I wouldn't recommend leaving it to the very last minute. There could be a lot of stress.

Alternatively have a look through the holidays on Teletext you can get some bargains there. There's even a holiday chanel on SKY with some great bargains.

Yes Virgin holidays are the only ones who go direct. You could always have a stop off somewhere it wouldn't be the end of the world if it saved you a ton of money. If you've tried Expedia (which searches every charter flight) then your only last option would be to go to a travel agent and ask there. The only other website I can think of for travel is www.opodo.com and there is one called octopus I think.

It's Christmas break and I want to take off for a week or so to Mexico. I know travelling last minute is the cheapest way and I will pay for travel like the day before I leave. Hi, myself and my friend are considering getting a last minute holiday deal for july 09 but have never done this before. We have always booked in advance. We will be doing it with a reputable travel agents i.e thomson, thomas cook etc so that all hopefully goes to plan.

We are hoping to go for 2 weeks all inclusve and are not bothered about where we go providing its nice and hot! What are our chances of getting this? and will we save much money?

Also, could you tell us how far in advance we should book to get the best deal, we plan to go around the 12th of july. We have read reviews from people who have booked at 9am and flew at 9pm........this is something we are hoping not to have to do!!

Google 'package holidays' and you will come up with loads of sites - lastminute.com is a good one, because you don't have to put in your destination, it will give you everything that is available at the time you want to travel.
