Best little last minute getaway in New England?

I'm traveling from Portland maine. I want a nice scenic drive and a place open in Nov. near the ocean. I am taking this mini vacation with my fiance before things get hectic with wedding planning. Some restaurants, shopping, etc. Open to suggestions because we are sick of making decisions really!

There are many sights to see from Stonington, including day trips into Newport, RI. Of course, a trip to Newport would be great if you want to be active. I cannot recommend the B&B I stayed in there, but there are many places to stay http://www.gonewport.com/
